5 Gotta Do’s in April for a Worry-Free Summer
Want to get ahead of the game this spring? Here are five easy tasks you can do now to enjoy worry-free warm weather later.
#1 Get Rid of Pesky Bugs
Spring weather means bugs are waking up and ready to invade your home. To keep them out, seal any openings in your house or deck. If you're dealing with mosquitoes, get rid of any standing water or use larvicide. And if you spot wasp or yellow jacket nests, call a pro (unless you're a bee battle pro yourself).
#2 Get Your Lawn Tools Ready
It's time to get your mower in shape before the grass starts growing like crazy. Make sure to replace spark plugs and air filters, change the oil, sharpen the blades, and fill the gas tank. And while you're at it, clean, sharpen, and repair your garden tools, so you're ready to prune those azaleas.
#3 Prep Your AC for the Heat
Before it gets too hot, tune up your air conditioning. See if your HVAC company offers a maintenance plan to save you money and hassle. And with that out of the way, you can focus on choosing which Havaianas to wear.
#4 Check Your Attic and Garage
Take a peek in the attic before it gets too hot. Look for signs of animal activity and repair or replace damaged insulation or wiring. And if your garage is packed with stuff, invest in a storage system to free up parking space for your car (and your partner's).
#5 Clean Your Bird Feeders
Dirty bird feeders attract rodents and can spread disease to birds. Yuck. So give them a deep clean with a bleach and water solution, and make sure to clean under the feeders too. A pretty yard that's a healthy haven for birds is a great way to show off your well-cared-for home.
